Book & Backpack Drive

We are collecting Gently Used & New Backpacks to benefit the Manna Smart Sack Program in Montgomery County Elementary Schools

The Smart Sack Program was started in 2005, by Manna, to provide children with backpacks full of kid-friendly food every Friday, so they have food on the weekends when there are no school meals to sustain them

We are also collecting Gently Used/New Books to send to our troops.

In coordination with S.A.G.E. Book Club and Novel Places Bookstore bring your book donation to be sent to a member of our armed services currently in active service.

Sept. 11

SEPTEMBER 11, 2011

As the 10th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, the Clarksburg Farmers’ Market is preparing to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11 and to honor the servicemen & women who have been killed or wounded since this tragic day.  Let us re-affirm our commitment to support the men, women and families who have sacrificed so much over the past decade.

The Clarksburg Business Referral Team (CBRT) will be at the Market on 9/11 and will provide you with the materials needed to write a post card to send to our troops.  Sending a thank-you card to our troops is easy to do and means a lot to them

The Market will also have a craft tent where the kids will be able to make 911 Remembrance Crafts.  Bring them by the tent and have them make one in remembrance of September 11th.

Come to the market to meet some local residents that will be involved in the patriotic motorcycle ride to ground zero this month.  They will be at the market to bring us the remarkable story of their journey and pictures of their ride.   At the precise moment the towers came down, some local residents over the past decade have waived flags at the corner of 355 & route 27.    After the waiving of the flags, they will ride these flags up to the market on their motorcycles in remembrance of 9/11.

The Get Fresh 2011 tour sponsored by Real Time Farms, presents... Coco and Lafe.  Tour promotes Eating Fresh and Buying Local.  Coco and Lafe will appear at over 120 markets this year.  Do not miss their bluesy, acoustic sounds.  http://www.cocolafe.com/

The Clarksburg Farmers Market is no stranger to animals.  Our furry friends visiting the Market on 9/11 are Lilla, who travels with Coco & Lafe  and CBRT’s adorable mascot bunnies.  The market provides cool water for all furry friends that would like to come and visit.
